Dear Dr. Hutson,

I would like to thank you for your expertise on the da Vinci (robot) and my surgery results. I was very nervous going into surgery for my Hysterectomy. After my consultation with you about the difference of surgery with or without the da Vinci, you were able to set my mind at ease at how much more efficient it is to use the "surgery by computer" and, if you will, the "agility" of the computer. I was just amazed at how well I felt within days, as you said every day was better than the previous. I am now two and a half weeks in and feel fantastic. I have to keep reminding myself to allow my insides to heel because I feel so GREAT.

Thank you again for a fantastic job!!

Dr. Netuschil performed a da Vinci Hysterectomy on me, February 5, 2010. I stayed one night in the hospital. I have suffered with painful menses since I was a teenager. Several years ago, I began experiencing increasingly heavier periods and worsening pelvic pain. In 2009 I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids (the largest measuring 6.5cm) and a cystic ovary. Dr. Netuschil presented me with many options for treatment. Initially, I chose watchful waiting with a follow-up ultrasound. When nothing had improved after nine months, I decided to try hormone treatment to shrink the fibroid and lessen the bleeding. I did not fare well with the hormone treatment, and it was discontinued. Given my worsening symptoms, I finally made the decision to have a hysterectomy.

I was up and walking within an hour after recovery and my pain was easily managed. By the next morning, I felt great and was ready to go home. From the beginning of my recovery, I was able to walk, sit and bend with very little discomfort. Within a few days, I no longer needed narcotic pain medication and within a week I no longer even needed ibuprofen. All my visitors were astonished at how well I looked and how easily I was moving. I had less bleeding than I expected and felt very energetic. I walked for exercise every day, rode in a car and did many household chores after two days, and began driving after twelve days. The most difficult part of the recovery was remembering that I had had major surgery and modifying my activities accordingly.

I am now three weeks post-surgery and continue to recover quickly. My four small incisions are well healed and I have only the occasional internal twinge to remind me that I had a hysterectomy. Although I still have some bleeding, my post-surgical visit with my doctor assured me that my recovery is right on track. I have resumed most of my normal activities with the exception of heavy lifting, vacuuming, and shoveling snow.

I am incredibly pleased with my da Vinci Surgery. Both the procedure and the recovery exceeded my admittedly high expectations and I am continually astonished at how well I feel this soon after surgery. After seeing what a number of my friends have endured with other hysterectomy procedures, I can honestly say that my experience was by far the best. I have and will continue to recommend the da Vinci procedure to anyone who is contemplating a hysterectomy.

Dr. Naughton I want to say thank you for fixing a problem that I thought I had to live with, my prolapsed uterus. I could no longer tolerate its competition for space with my bladder and bowels. It had begun to feel like I was restraining a bulging grapefruit between my thighs. Your skills, expertise and caring, knowledgeable staff allowed me to have a smooth procedure and a full and satisfying recovery.

After researching your experience with the da Vinci robotic system and background in uterine surgery, I knew that I could feel confident in your care.

Shortly after the operation, I noticed I was walking more upright, as though my center of balance had returned and everything was back as God intended it. With better posture, I feel more confident and enjoy physical activities again. The tiny incisions barely show.

I had no problems after the operation and took surprisingly little time to recover, and on the exact schedule you told me. To my delight, you advised me to walk regularly and I was walking a short distance the next day after my procedure and increased the distance every day. I went back to work after three weeks, though I took it easy and needed more rest than usual while healing. After three months, my strength and energy were back up to full and I am back to all my previous activities, except better.

I also thank Paula for her upbeat and reassuring support and for patiently taking time to prepare me for the operation and for advice on the steps to recovery and her follow-up calls after my operation. Thanks to Mary for working out the schedule for my operation.

I cannot express in enough words the exceptional treatment and results received by Dr. Hutson and her staff. Dr. Hutson is a very skilled and professional surgeon with an incredible bed-side manner and the ability to explain complex medical procedures for even a layperson to understand with ease. The entire staff was so caring and helpful from setting appointments and arranging my surgery to post surgery follow-up. Dr. Hutson's use of the da Vinci method for my myomectomy reduced my recovery time, pain level, and with less scarring. I would highly recommend Dr. Hutson to any woman suffering from gyneocological issues that require surgery.

Wow what a difference! I should have had the bladder sling surgery done four years ago when Dr. Hutson told me about it. I no longer have to cross my legs when I sneeze, cough, or laugh. This surgery has made such a huge difference in my life; my confidence has been restored in my everyday life along with my personal life. Before having surgery the only time I could go to the gym was first thing in the morning, now I can go anytime and the best part-I can do real jumping jacks! First time in 13 years! Thank you. Dr. Hutson you truly are the best.

Making the decision to get a hysterectomy was not one I took lightly. My doctor referred me to Dr. Elizabeth Hutson at Reno Gynecology for a consult. I had many questions and wasn't sure if I was ready for surgery. Dr. Hutson patiently answered all my questions, explained all my options and gave me resources for making my decision.

After a year, I was finally ready to take that step. I went back to see Dr. Hutson. She succinctly laid out the entire process - she was great! I had heard many horror stories about hysterectomies, Dr. Hutson allayed my fears and helped me make an educated decision. I had my hysterectomy using the da Vinci system. Dr. Hutson explained how the surgery would be performed and what I could expect afterwards. Prior to my surgery day and for weeks after, Paula, the surgical RN on staff at Dr. Hutson's office was able to answer all of my questions. The information given to me to prepare myself for before and after the surgery was clear and concise. Once home after my surgery, Paula called on me a couple of times to check and make sure I was doing fine. She reassured me that she was always available. It was a comfort knowing that at any time I could call her with my questions or concerns.

Dr. Hutson and her supportive staff were great to work with. My down time was minimal and 2 months later I feel great! (I did feel good after the first week -- but my body was still healing and reminded me to slow down!) I have four small incisions that will pretty much disappear with time. I highly recommend Dr. Hutson if you're contemplating a hysterectomy. Dr. Hutson and her staff made the entire process go smoothly. I am very grateful to Dr. Hutson and her entire staff for the great care I received!

Having a hysterectomy via the da Vinci robot method was such a positive experience for me. I procrastinated in having the surgery thinking that keeping my uterus, although enlarged with a uterine fibroid, was not necessary. It became so large that I could no longer ignore it. Now after having the surgery I can see a substantial difference. I can bend easily and I no longer have to get up several times in the night because of my bladder always feeling full. The recovery was a complete opposite from when I had a C-Section. I did have a flu shot and pneumonia vaccine while in the hospital (they were offering, so I figured, why not?) and the 2 shots in my arm hurt more than any pain I felt after surgery. With four little incisions, my abdomen felt more like the soreness from doing too many sit-ups. The hardest part was taking it easy. I had to force myself to remember that my body was still healing on the inside. If you have to have a hysterectomy, I highly recommend Dr. Hutson with her expertise and caring manner. She was honest with the possibility of having to make an open abdominal incision since my uterus was so large, but she was able to pull it off via the da Vinci and I thank her for that!

Respectfully,

Laura Ramsay

For the past 30 years I have had problems with bladder leakage. It started with the birth of my third child and got progressively worse. I was afraid to have the bladder surgery to correct this problem worrying about having surgery, the pain involved, etc. Finally in February of 2010 I was sick and tired of having to always wear pads so I consulted Dr. Hutson about this problem. I had the bladder sling repair surgery March 1, and it was the best decision I made. It was an outpatient surgery and I felt great after arriving home that day. I took two weeks off of work but went back to work after one week because I felt so good. I did not have to go home with a catheter which was also great. I highly recommend this surgery to anyone experiencing these types of problems and my only regret is that I did not do it 15 years sooner.

LOVE Dr. Naughton

I have gone to Dr. Naughton since I was a teenager, and am now in my early 20s. I have a painful condition, and he has been nothing but amazing. He has truly changed my life for the better, and is the only doctor that ever took my symptoms seriously, successfully diagnosed me, and has made my life better because of it. Furthermore, the doctors and office staff are more than willing to fit you in during a TRUE emergency in less than a day, they saw me, sent me for tests, and had me in the OR. People have to remember that the doctor's idea of an emergency and their own may differ. Also, their nurses, including the newer ones, are great. Alice is by far my favorite! Very nice lady, and a great listener. Also, Dr. Naughton came and saw me in the ER one time too. Oh, and when you can't get in to see a physician in the time you want, their nurse practitioner Laurie Smith (APN I think) is a wonderful person. She is easy to talk to, she listens, and is very straight forward and informative. Dr. Hutson came in and performed my emergency surgery at something like 9 or 10pm. Oh, and a total bonus, but they make your scars very small and unnoticeable, and your navel is still cute afterwards. J Basically, I wanted to let you all know how great these people really are. They take time with you, and know your name when you walk in...well, at least if you've been going there as long as I have. Point is, great doctors, especially Dr. Naughton. I would not go anywhere else, ever.

What a pleasant experience. I usually dread going to the doctor but today I actually had a very nice experience when I went to see Dr. Hutson for my GYN exam. She is so nice and made me feel at ease right away. She is very gentle with the exam- I did not even feel discomfort- wow. The office is friendly and helpful.

Dr. Hutson has a great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable about her field. She is very down to earth and easy to talk to about embarrassing problems. She explains all the treatment options so that you can make a decision about your health. I ended up having an endometrial ablation for heavy painful bleeding and now I have no periods-life is great! Before meeting Dr. Hutson I had not even heard of that procedure. She is the best doctor I have ever met!!!!
